Member Terms of Use

1. Who is who

This website is run by Score Stokvel Grocery and bereavement ("the stokvel") for its members. The software is provided by Stokvel Platform Systems (Pty) Ltd ("SPS") under an agreement with the stokvel. The stokvel decides its own rules in its constitution; SPS only supplies the tools.

2. Your money

Contributions, fines and loan repayments are paid to the stokvel's own bank account or the stokvel's own payment-gateway account. SPS never receives, holds or pays out the stokvel's money, and cannot approve payments or payouts. The only amount SPS receives is the platform fee shown to you before you pay.

Money saved in a stokvel is not a bank deposit. It is not protected by deposit insurance, and the stokvel's committee, not SPS, is responsible for how it is kept and used.

3. Your account

• Give true and complete information and keep it up to date.
• Keep your password and one-time PINs secret. Nobody from the stokvel or SPS will ever ask for them.
• Tell an admin at once if you think someone else has used your account.

4. Fees

A platform fee may be added to a payment. The amount is always shown before you pay. Fees for fines, loans and contributions set by the stokvel follow its constitution.

5. Loans, fines and payouts

Loans, interest, fines and payouts are decided under the stokvel's constitution and approved by its office bearers. Questions or disputes about them go to the stokvel's committee first.

6. Availability

SPS aims to keep the site available but may take it offline for maintenance or updates, usually outside busy times.

7. Limits on liability

To the extent the law allows, SPS is not liable for loss caused by: decisions or mistakes of the stokvel or its office bearers; the stokvel's handling of its money; delays or failures of banks, payment gateways, email or internet providers; or you sharing your password or PINs. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act or other law that cannot be limited.

8. Complaints

Raise stokvel matters with the committee. For problems with the website itself, email support@stokvelplatformsystems.co.za.

9. Changes and law

If these terms change you will be asked to accept the new version when you next sign in. South African law applies.
